Running Form Check-In

How to film your running ⬇️

This is the only thing I need from you before I can take a proper look at your running.

Don’t overthink it.

I’m not looking for 'perfect' running… I want to see how you naturally move.

First things first

If you normally run outdoors → please film outdoors
If you mostly run on a treadmill → film on a treadmill

👉🏻 The goal is to see your real running, not something different just for the video.

What I need from you

Please send me 2 short videos:

  • Side view (most important)

  • Back view

Each video only needs to be 10–15 seconds

Outdoor filming

1. Side view

  • Ask someone to film from the side or use a tripod

  • Phone horizontal (landscape)

  • Camera side-on to you, around hip height

  • Stand a few metres to one side of the camera

  • Run naturally past it

  • Stay in frame as you pass

  • 10–15 seconds is plenty

👉🏻 Don’t try to 'run well' - I want to see your normal running!

2. Back view

  • Ask someone to film from behind or use a tripod

  • Phone vertical (portrait)

  • Camera directly behind you

  • Stand with your back to the camera, a few metres away

  • Run away from the camera in a straight line

  • Make sure your whole body stays in frame

  • 10–15 seconds

Treadmill filming

1. Side view

  • Ask someone to film from the side or use a tripod

  • Phone vertical (portrait)

  • Positioned side-on to you

  • Around hip height

  • Make sure your full body is visible (head to toe)

  • Run as normal for 10–15 seconds

2. Back view

  • Ask someone to film from behind or use a tripod

  • Phone vertical (portrait)

  • Positioned directly behind you

  • Make sure your full body is visible (head to toe)

  • Run as normal for 10–15 seconds

A few quick tips (these make a big difference)

  • Wear something fairly fitted if you can (easier to see movement)

  • Make sure your whole body is visible (head to feet)

  • Keep the camera still (no tracking or zooming)

  • Good lighting helps (daylight if outside)

  • Don’t try to “fix” anything while filming

💡 The more natural it is, the more useful it is

Send me your videos

Please send your videos using WeTransfer:

You don’t need an account and it takes a couple of minutes.

👉🏻 If you can, name your files (e.g. Jane_Doe_side_view) so I can match everything up easily.

What happens next

Once I’ve received your videos:

  • I’ll review your running

  • Filter out anything that isn’t relevant

  • Break down what I’m seeing in a way that actually makes sense

  • And give you 2–3 simple things to focus on

I'll aim to provide your feedback within 5 working days.

Final note

Honestly, the biggest mistake people make here is overthinking it.

Just press record, run as you normally would, and send it over.

That’s all I need.
